    Hi Chris

Are your iterations cards? If so, when you say "by ID" do you mean card number? If you are using a data series and the x axis is a card property the cards should be listed in order of card name.

Please let me know if I can help any further.

    Thanks

Yes, iterations are cards, and I mean card number.  I was hoping there was some way of specifying the order of the x axis data points in the data series chart definition, so that we don't have to change the names of our iterations.

Which version of Mingle are you using? This sounds like either an older version or perhaps a defect as card properties used on the x axis should be ordered by card name and not number by default.

Sorry, I think my previous response wasn't very clear, but for what it's worth we're using 2.3.1.

Iterations are cards, and I want the x-axis to list them in chronological order.  Our naming convention has been "<some name> <start date>", so alphabetical ordering wasn't working for us.  After reading your earlier response, I changed the convention to be <start date> <some name>, and that works.

I have to admit though, that that's surprising to me.  If you order things alphabetically, then the string "9/25/09" will come after "10/9/09".  So I guess Mingle (or the database) is doing something more clever.  Do you know what the ordering is?  Is our first iteration in 2010 not going to be ordered correctly?  We can change the naming convention to something that'll work for whatever the ordering is.

Thanks for clarifying. I had assumed you were using names like "Iteration 1", "Iteration 2" etc.... Sorry.

I thought the sort would be independent of the database but I see 9/25/09 before 10/9/09 when using Postgres. As I am not seeing the same as you I would like to look into this in more detail before I confirm what you should see.

Could you let me know what database you are using?

    Thanks Suzie

Actualy, it sounds like you ARE seeing what I'm seeing.  It's just not what I EXPECT to be seeing.  We are using Postgres as well.

I see. Let me check it out and let you know what we expect.

    Hi Chris

So I have looked into this and what you see is what we expect you to see as we have added in a "smort sort" on the x axis card names. I believe that this means you should see dates like "01/01/10" before "09/25/09". I hope this information helps. In addition as far as I know there is no way to change the order to something else.

    Thanks Suzie
