I'm desperate. I have just installed 3.4. into production (3.3 was working fine). I can not access mingle from any other machine but on the windows server 2008 machine where I installed mingle.
I first exported my projects, then uninsulated 3.3, then installed 3.4 and then imported my projects. If I am on the server I can log into mingle with no problems via any of these urls:
http://localhost:8080
http://192.168.0.2:8080
http://sdserver:8080
However if I try this from any other machine on our network the page times out and says it can not connect. I have checked network connectivity to sdserver from each of these machines without any problems. I just can not access mingle using either of the latter two links. I have restarted both postgres and mingle services, this didn't fix it. In exasperation I restarted the server itself. Also didn't fix it.
Anyone got any possible suggestions? ...really desperate, our whole workshop depends on mingle.
thanks Michelle

I then tried to uninstall 3.4 in effort to do a re-installation. Uninstalling gives the error as shown in the attached screenshot, uninstall_error.png

...after the above uninstall problem, I re-installed mingle over the top of the existing installation. I went to add and remove programs and the uninstalling said it was successful. I then went into program files and found that mingle and all its files were still there. So I double clicked uninstall.exe again, this is the error I now get... (attached)
ummm.... this is not so great. again, anyone know what is going on here?
Or even better, how do I get 3.4 uninstalled so I can re-install 3.3?
I have no experience of installing 3.4, but my guess would be that it has something to do with port 8080. Was 3.3 running on this port too?
Can you telnet to sdserver on port 8080 and get connected? Maybe the upgrade reset the web server to use 80, or if this port was not used before perhaps it is blocked by a firewall? Did you log into the server as the same user that installed mingle originally, as the mingle.properties and other files are stored under \document and settings\User\mingle, which may lead to an incomplete upgrade perhaps (I think the port number to use is specified in mingle.properties)?
hope you get it up and running again soon.
Ian
Hi Ian,
Thanks for your reply, I checked the mingle.properties file of 3.4 - exactly the same values set as in the previous 3.3 (ie port 8080). But you're right, I couldn't telnet from my client machine. I found it! It was the windows firewall problem. I had to change the path in the INBOUND allow rule on the server as shown on the screen shot. Thanks a lot!!!! Friday ends well. Thank-you!!! Michelle
