With the official announcement of Mingle + Cycle Time Analytics, it's time for FAQ!
What is Mingle + Cycle Time Analytics?
Cycle Time Analytics is a new feature available for Mingle.* It helps your team improve and deliver faster by highlighting outliers and trends in your team’s cycle time. It also makes bottlenecks in your delivery process visible and obvious. With Mingle + Cycle Time Analytics you can STOP:
Manually track the cycle time of your stories or rely on explicit transitions
Exporting data to Excel or via custom scripts
Struggling to make sense of complex control charts
*Cycle Time Analytics is not available for Mingle onsite.
What is Cycle Time?
How do I access Cycle Time Analytics from my Mingle project?
It’s simple. Just click on the Cycle Time Analytics link in your Mingle project header:
What are those blue lines on my Cycle Time Analytics bubble chart?
The blues lines represent one standard deviation above and below your team’s average (mean) Cycle Time, and are there to help you identify outliers. As you adjust your bubble chart, you’ll see them move to represent the standard deviation for the newly set time range and scale.
How do I get back to my Mingle project from Cycle Time Analytics?
Just click on your Mingle project under the Mingle logo and to the right of the collapsable menu:
How do I get back to the original 6-week default timeline of my Cycle Time Analytics?
Just click on the Mingle + Cycle Time Analytics logo in the project header. This will reset your bubble chart to the 6-week default timeline. Whatever default properties you have set to track a particular Cycle Time will persist; only the timeline scale will change.
How am I supposed to use Cycle Time Analytics?
You can use Cycle Time Analytics to focus team conversations about what’s most important and decide on action items with confidence. While there is no right way to use Cycle Time Analytics, check out this video for suggestions:
What happens if I modify my workflow?
Currently, Mingle’s Cycle Time Analytics does not auto-detect changes in your Mingle project’s workflow. We plan to automate this in the near term but for the time being, make sure to update your workflow and change your property filters so the Cycle Time being calculated is accurate. Watch this video to learn how.
How do I filter on a card property?
Cycle Time Analytics tracks the time a card takes to change status (or the respective property name in your Mingle project), and eventually to be completed. You can define the start and end values for the statuses you’re most interested in. You can also add an additional property filter so you capture Cycle Time Analytics for a particular set of cards. Just set the additional filter in the left collapsable panel:
I just moved a card. Why don’t I see a change in my Cycle Time?
Right now, your project’s cycle time is updated once daily, so check back the next day to see your updated cycle time.
