I am sure that most have you have noticed by now that we are getting inundated with spam posts on our community forums. I realize the impact that this has on you with unwanted email notifications and the usability of our forums in general.
The vendor that hosts our forums (Zendesk) has been working on blocking the spam posts that have been hitting us for several months now. The spam is impacting a large number of their customers who use forums. Unfortunately, the solutions that they have developed and implemented are quickly worked around by the spammer(s). In the meantime, we have been doing our best to keep the knowledge base clean. Several times a day we will delete these posts and block the user accounts that created them.
I have escalated the issue within Zendesk, and they assure me that their team is working to develop a new forum moderator interface. This will allow us to pre-screen any article prior to being posted. They have not provided a release date for this functionality yet, but ultimately having this extra step will be the best solution to keep the spam off the site.
