    Hi Brett,

We understand that having a "view xml config" for specific portions of the admin interface would make things easier, but as of now there are not many customers who have requested for this feature and hence its currently not high in priority.  We will add it to the feature request backlog and plan accordingly for the roadmap of Go for 2014.

    Thanks,

    Sharanya

Is there something in the pipeline to cater for changing pipeline names or materials / dependencies then?

Currently, if I want to rename a pipeline, I have no ability to do that via the UI if the pipeline has a downstream dependency. The only option is to go into the XML config and modify it. In the same way, it isn't easy to change a pipeline material. In fact, it's not possible to change from StageX to StageY of the same upstream pipeline, because the material is defined at a pipeline level, and artifacts then retrieved  in a "fetchartifact" task in a stage use the upstreams stagename. direct XML editing would not be necessary if changes like pipeline material changes as well as pipeline renaming had a "propogate changes to dependencies" option, instead of just blocking the change with an error message (and a review the the changes).

    Hi Brett,

No, as of now it is not possible to rename a pipeline or change material dependencies through the UI. This is a UI limitation due to they way Go is designed. I will pass on this information to our UI team and also add a feature request to our backlog.

    Thanks,

    Sharanya

For materials, one workaround that we have relied on is to use parameters for the material pipeline & stage name as well as the job name if it is used in the tasks of a job.   This way, when you want to rename or clone and change the names you can do it all in the parameters.  This is especially handy when using templates.
